Steven & Fran's Annual Report for

September - Continued

Onward toward Reno on I-80. We planned to take 395 from there to Bishop, but destiny had a delay planned.

The sign tells where a tire on the house blew out!

Steve changed the tire and we stopped overnight at Boomtown, got a new tire the next day and were back on the road again, headed south on U.S. 395. We love that route.

There is a lot of beautiful California on the east side of the Sierras.

We lunched in Walker and visited with nice woman from the area. She suggested a place to spend the night near Bridgeport and some other places we might tour. We did.

Twin Lakes near Bridegport Ca

At Twin Lakes, unhitched and toured the area. Got back to the rig to find county wide the power would be off from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. for repairs.

We stayed in Lone Pine two nights so we could drive almost to the top of Mt. Whitney and also tour Alabama Hills and the museum in town. It’s amazing how many movies have been made in that area.

October - November

Lancaster, CA is our alternate home-base. It was good to see the family there and we were quickly settled into the activities of life in the Antelope Valley such as Brad’s Eagle Scout Ceremony, and a tour of Mark’s office complex in Bomber Country, at Edwards AFB.

Then one day we went to a RV show and sale in Santa Clarita ...just to look. We came away with a new Coachmen Chaparral 340QBS fifth wheel. It has more room than our original one’s longer and has two slide outs. It took us three weeks to get moved into the new one and sell the old one.

Our granddog, Buddy, took to the new rig like a fish to water! He figured out where I would keep his Milkbones right away!

In late November we headed back to Yuba City via Interstate 5 with an overnight in Santa Nella. We stayed at Lake Minden a couple of days so we could measure to see if the new rig would fit into Mom's back yard in Yuba City. Yep, it did fit... better that we thought it would... so we got parked there just in time for the holidays.
