A little history of our
year...
We spent the 1998-1999 winter in
Southern California and Arizona arriving back at our 'home
base' the end of March. If you want, you can read about our

We spent a long weekend in Lodi, CA
where we met several members of the on-line RV
Club for a mini
get-together. I think it's
safe to say that all of us had a good time.
In April 1999 we attended the
Escapees'
Escapade in Chico, CA. We
had a great time. We met old friends we hadn't seen for a
while and old friends we had never seen before... friends
from the RV Club mailing list. The photo below shows just a
few of the 1200 rigs at the Escapade.
We were right in the center of the
parking lot... one of several. Fran took the photos from the
roof of our rig. We tried for a full panorama like our
Quartzsite
Panorama but not all the
photos turned out so this is it.
Except that Fran was working at the
California
Fruit Packing Company peach
cannery for Morning Star Trucking we had a pretty good
summer. We spent 'quality time' with friends Bill &
Nancy, Buddy & Gail and Everett & Betty. And, we met
fellow RV-Club members Pete
& Jo Peters! Lots of
other park regulars and repeats have come through too and
it's always nice to see them again. That's one of the few
good things about having a 'home base' and being in one
place for a while.
To keep our Hitch Itch in remission
we've taken several day trips and lots of afternoon drives.
It's working so far but as the end of the season get closer
the Hitch Itch gets stronger!
On Saturday, December 4th we went
on our annual pilgrimage to the California Delta which
always includes watching the lighted boat parade in
Stockton. We'll try to get some photos and a description up
soon.
The Saturday trip wasn't enough so
Sunday we took a little ride up Highway 20. We took our
water jugs along and filled them at Bitney Springs and then
drove on up to Bridgeport. The longest single span
wood-covered bridge is there. Built in the late 1800s the
bridge is closed to traffic and is the center point of a
small state park. Wow! It's been 20 years since we've been
there. We both can remember when the 'park' was a private
ranch and we could drive across the bridge.
We spent the holidays in Yuba
City and had a nice
Thanksgiving & Christmas with family. It's always nice
to get everyone together.
Fran & I got a Delorme
Earthmate/Street atlas as our gift to each other. Just
having the Street Atlas is pretty cool but with the
Earthmate GPS the system is lots of fun.
We had a chance to try out the GPS
1/2/00 when we took a ride up through Oroville, Paradise and
Sterling City. We didn't plan a route... that's not how we
do daytrips. But it was fun to track our position along the
way.
